Jen began painting about 10 years ago. One fan described her emergent talent as a spontaneous combustion.
Back in the 80's she served 4 years as a hull technician in the Navy. She was stationed for two years in Norfolk, VA and she had the great fortune to be stationed for 2 years in Pearl Harbor. After leaving the Navy she was a belly dancer for a time.
After the Navy she moved back to Maine. She dances and teaches bellydance. Married the artist Chris Cart in 1988. She and Chris have two children. With the encouragement of her artist husband Jen began creating some of her ideas in paint. She has since become a full time artist, selling at several galleries.
Jen also recently illustrated her first children's book, Pea Soup Fog, written by Constance Smith, published by Down East Books.
