Welcome to SilverChicks!
SilverChicks is owned and operated by mom-entrepreneurs, Valissa McGuffee and Catie Dupont. They started making jewelry in 2002 as a hobby and that hobby prompted the development of SilverChicks.
SilverChicks love the African items and gorgeous African beads, to include Kazuri, that are part of their business. They are appreciative of the depth those items bring to their business and inspiration to their pieces.
Please note, that it is SilverChicks practice to not alter the beads and components they find in Africa by polishing them. Pieces purchased will often have an aged patina that can easily be removed with a polishing cloth if you prefer the piece to be shiny.
Do you wonder where SilverChicks get the African items and whether or not they participate in Fair Trade? The answer to how and where is that Catie travels back and forth to East Africa a number of times a year. She hand picks 95% of the items that we sell and the other 5% of our inventory come from vendors who also participate in Fair Trade practices.
